Indigenous communities in Sarawak are working on the frontline of the climate movement, fighting to protect their forests in the face of intense industrial pressure. We work to strengthen indigenous-led campaigns for tropical rainforest protection, land rights and justice. We believe that people and the environment are not separate entities, and real solutions address both environmental and community wellbeing. What The Borneo Project does: - Brings international attention and support to grassroots campaigns against destructive industries such as palm oil, mega-dams and mega-hydro - Supports the creation of alternative livelihoods at the village level - Supports community-led efforts to install renewable energy systems - Works towards creating indigenous managed protected areas in some of the last primary forest of Sarawak, a stronghold of endangered and threatened wildlife
