2025 Christmas Get-Together

The 2025 Tabitha Home report highlights activities and achievements aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Supporting 62 residential beneficiaries, 5 nonresidential university students, and 450 individuals in rural areas, the organization made significant impacts through programs like A Pad a Girl, Girls Tech, and the School Advocacy Project. Focused on Child Development, Social Integration, and Sustainable Entrepreneurship, Tabitha Home provided holistic care, including nutrition, shelter, education, and psychosocial support. The report celebrates the resilience of beneficiaries and the essential role of donors and partners in transforming lives and fostering sustainable change.

2025 ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Academic Excellence: Nine of our children sat for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), with scores ranging from 213 to 294. All of them have since gained admission into various universities to study the courses of their choice. We also celebrated a major milestone as one of our children successfully graduated from the university.
  • Leadership Recognition: In May 2025, two of our children were selected as Health and Social Prefects in their school, an affirmation of their leadership, responsibility, and growth.
  • Scholarship Opportunity: In September 2025, one of our children received a scholarship to complete her senior secondary school education, an encouraging reward for her dedication and hard work.
  • ChangeMakers Initiative: We officially inaugurated the ChangeMakers Group, made up of our university students. This initiative encourages them to give back to society, one person at a time, promoting a culture of compassion and gratitude.
  • Asido Kids Challenge: In May 2025, ten of our children participated in the Asido Kids Challenge, where one of them proudly emerged 6th out of 68 participants, showcasing creativity and resilience.
  • Reintegration and Admissions: We reintegrated five children back into society and welcomed six new children into the Home, expanding our family to a total of 61 children.
  • GlobalGiving Recognition: Once again, Tabitha Home earned three badges on GlobalGiving, a recognition of our transparency, effectiveness, and lasting community impact.
  • Inspiring Home Podcast: In June 2025, we launched our podcast titled “Inspiring Hope”, a platform dedicated to sharing stories of impact, hope, and transformation from our children and community programs.
  • Creative Arts & Cultural Heritage Project: In December 2025, our Creative Arts Department organized a cultural celebration that highlighted our rich cultural heritage and showcased beautiful-handcrafted products made by the children, combining creativity with empowerment.

PROJECTS AND ACTIVITIES

GIRLS TECH 1.5

The fifth edition of Tabitha Home’s Girls Tech Project lit up New Covenant Church, Ring Road, Ibadan, from August 11th to 20th, 2025. It was a vibrant blend of creativity, laughter, learning, and discovery, a space where girls found their voice through technology.

Twenty girls from five care homes came together, guided by a passionate team of volunteers and staff. Over the course of the training, they explored the world of multimedia, social media management, mobile content creation, and video editing, skills that help turn imagination into impact.

From the first day, the excitement was contagious. Under the guidance of Mr. Israel, Head of Media at Tabitha Home, the girls learned how digital tools can be used to tell stories that inspire. They practiced shooting videos with their phones, mastered angles and lighting, and built confidence in presenting themselves online.

By the second week, the girls had moved from learning to creating, editing their clips, syncing music, and adding transitions like pros. The atmosphere was electric as they showcased their projects, proud of how far they had come in just a few days.

The finale was pure celebration, certificates, cheers, and wide smiles all around. It wasn’t just the end of a training; it was the start of new possibilities. The Girls Tech Project continues to prove that when girls are given the tools to create, they don’t just learn, they lead, innovate, and shine.

A PAD A GIRL PROJECT

The A Pad a Girl Project, an initiative of Tabitha Home, continues to make a meaningful impact by educating young girls on important topics such as menstrual hygiene, sanitary pad usage, the menstrual cycle, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), and sexual and reproductive health.

In May 2025, the project reached three schools in Ibadan — Okebola College (May 14th) with 220 girls, IMG Grammar School (May 15th) with 54 girls, and Celestial School (May 29th) with 87 girls in attendance.

The interactive sessions dispelled common menstrual myths, promoted healthy hygiene practices, and taught the girls how to track their periods using a simple calendar. Each session featured open and engaging Q&A segments, where the girls freely asked questions and received practical, reassuring answers.

At the end of the program at each school, every girl and female teacher received a pack of sanitary pads, symbolizing both care and dignity. The success of the project was made possible through the active participation of Tabitha Home staff and dedicated volunteers, who continue to champion the message that education and empowerment can transform a girl’s future.

TABITHA HOME CHANGEMAKERS

The ChangeMakers Group emerged from Tabitha Home’s vision to nurture gratitude and social responsibility among its older children, particularly the university students. The management sought a practical way to help them overcome the sense of entitlement that often comes with being cared for, while inspiring a new understanding of what it means to give back. The result was a youth-led movement driven by kindness, compassion, and purpose.

In just one year, the group carried out two impactful outreach projects, each one an opportunity for the members to connect, serve, and grow.

Project One: The Power of Kindness

The first outreach took place at Total Parental Orphanage Home under the theme “Kindness.” It was designed to teach that giving is not always about money, it’s about sharing what you have and who you are.

The program opened with a talk on the importance of kindness and how small acts of compassion can transform lives. The session was filled with lively games, craft-making, and a short dance performance that brought smiles to everyone’s faces.

To support the children, the team donated sanitary pads, detergents, pencils, pens, crayons, exercise books, and other essentials, all provided through the support of Tabitha Home management. The event ended on a joyful note, with laughter, gratitude, and a shared sense of fulfillment. Both the ChangeMakers and the beneficiaries left with a deeper appreciation for the true meaning of giving.

Project Two: Discovering the Hero Within

The second outreach, held at Winnie Castle Home of Love, focused on self-discovery and empowerment. It was a creative and interactive session that encouraged children to identify their strengths, build confidence, and envision their future.

The event featured four inspiring segments:

  • What’s My Superpower? – helping participants recognize their unique gifts.
  • The Hero Showcase – exploring what makes an everyday hero.
  • The Future Me – encouraging the children to dream boldly and set goals.
  • The Superpower Showcase – allowing them to perform, express themselves, and celebrate their individuality.

The energy was high, the smiles were genuine, and the lessons were lasting. It wasn’t just a visit, it was a day of shared discovery, laughter, and hope.

Through both projects, the ChangeMakers learned a vital truth: kindness is powerful, and giving transforms both the giver and the receiver. They discovered that generosity is not measured by what’s in your wallet but by what’s in your heart.

For Tabitha Home, the birth of the ChangeMakers marks a beautiful evolution, a generation of young people learning that true fulfillment comes from service, and that even the smallest act of kindness can spark a lasting change.

TABITHA HOME CREATIVE ARTS AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEPARTMENT

(CRAFT PLUS)

Tabitha Maison Enterprise was established by Tabitha Home to create a sustainable source of funding for the Home. The goal is to build a self-sustaining model through the production and sale of handmade crafts such as tote bags, leather bags, Ankara and resin art accessories, Ankara notepads, and flip-flops.

In March, Tabitha Home CraftPlus organized a mobile charity shop at the University of Ibadan, held from March 3rd to 7th. The trade fair-style fundraising event showcased a variety of products made by the children and helped raise awareness about Tabitha Home’s mission and programs.

In August, a special summer training program was organized for interested children in the Home. The purpose of this training was to expose them to new creative skills and equip them with practical, hands-on abilities. Two external trainers facilitated the sessions, focusing on Shoe Making and Resin Art. The children learned how to create palm slippers, earrings, and keyholders. The training enhanced their creativity and confidence while expanding the knowledge base and production capacity of Tabitha Maison Enterprise.

To build on this progress, CraftPlus was introduced as a specialized program under Tabitha Home to equip children with hands-on skills in arts and crafts while fostering creativity, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance. Initially, participants focused on producing earrings, backpacks, and wallets but later expanded to branded notepads, keyholders, bracelets, and other handmade products. These crafts provide valuable vocational training that prepares the children for sustainable livelihoods.

By the end of the first quarter of 2025, CraftPlus, the Creative Arts Department of Tabitha Home, began participating in and hosting art exhibitions in collaboration with partners such as the University of Ibadan, Molebi Art and Craft, New Covenant Church, and the ISI Old Students Association. At one of these events, the Tabitha Dance Group added vibrancy and excitement with their captivating performances.

In December 2026, the department hosted its own major exhibition at the Tunde Odunlade Art Gallery, celebrating Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage through dance, games, spoken word, and fashion displays. Children from other homes were invited to participate, and the Tabitha Home Creative Arts and Entrepreneurship Department showcased and sold a range of handmade products created by the children of Tabitha Home.

COOPERATIVE WOMEN PROJECT

The women held their monthly meetings consistently and participated in two capacity-building sessions focused on health and personal development. During these sessions, their blood pressure and blood sugar levels were checked, and they received guidance on managing their health and stress effectively. One of the sessions also addressed basic business management skills to support their economic growth.

In 2025, the cooperative grew from eight to twelve women, reflecting increased interest and engagement. The group also held its annual Christmas party at Tabitha Home on 23rd December, where the organization supported the women with food items as gifts to celebrate the season.

On this day, they receive special recognition, heartfelt wishes, and warm felicitations from both staff and fellow children, making it a truly memorable and meaningful experience forall.

2025 Christmas Get-Together

The annual Tabitha Home Christmas Get-Together is always a highly anticipated event for the children, as it creates an atmosphere filled with fun, relaxation, and opportunities for creative expression in many forms. The 2025 edition of the celebration took place on Sunday, 14th December 2025, at Tabitha Home.

The event was a lively and joyful gathering, featuring the presence of children from other invited homes. Highlights of the day included games, dance performances, storytelling, laughter, delicious food, and a special visit from Father Christmas, which brought excitement and smiles to the children. The celebration provided a safe and happy space for the children to unwind, connect with one another, and fully enjoy the festive season.
