Dear Supporters,
This has been a very busy quarter for the GVI Trust in Laos! We have also continued to provide classroom rental for students to gain greater access to educational opportunities, provided sponsorships to local English schools to increase students’ access to future opportunities, and funded the salary of a local, female intern, helping her to increase her employability through practical experience in the classroom.
During this quarter, we provided 5 sponsorships to 5 individual students. Of these 8 students, 6 are male (75%) and 2 are female (25%). This has greatly increased Lao students access to educational opportunities which works towards UN SDG 4: Quality Education.
In addition to this, The GVI Trust has also contributed to the continuing of GVI Laos’ free classes for male and female students from rural Laos, who come to the city to gain access to higher quality education. There are 36 (54%) male students and 31 (46%) female students benefitting from these classes and working towards improving their English skills as well as marketable life skills such as computer skills, CV writing skills, and critical thinking skills.
The GVI Trust has also contributed in working towards UNSDG5: Gender Equality, by providing the salary of our female NSP, Miss Tarn, who has spent several months building skills in English, teaching, computer competency, translation, and more. These are all incredibly marketable skills, and will hopefully help her to seek gainful employment in the future.
The GVI Trust continues to support educational opportunities through finances for classroom rental in Luang Prabang that has increased educational opportunities for 67 students.
Overall, The GVI Trust has contributed significantly towards education and life skills workshops in the Lao community. Thank you for your continued contribution and commitment to the GVI Trust Program in Laos. We look forward to working together to continue to provide these opportunities in Laos in the next quarter.
With Gratitude,
GVI Laos
