Another busy quarter for the GVI Trust in Laos!
We have continued to provide sponsorships for Lao students to attend local English schools to increase their access to future opportunities. This week we’ve also been busy paying school fees for our sponsored students. We haven’t been able to tally up the total yet, but it’s looking to be over 50 students at primary, secondary and higher educational facilities as well as vocational education.
During this quarter we helped to provide several sponsorships for private English lessons at the Bright Centre and English for Everyone. We also paid the next year’s tuition fees to support many young Lao students, and it looks like we will have nearly equal numbers of male and female students! We are projecting to spend over 6,000 GBP on school fees and associated costs for students this year.
Overall, the GVI Trust has greatly contributed directly to UN SDG #4, Quality Education, and it’s indicator: 4.B, increasing the number of scholarships available, through its continued support of increasing access to education for Lao students; and UN SDG #5 by increasing the number of female students who have access to education through scholarships.
