What will tomorrow bring?

We each play a part in the unfolding of tomorrow...For many life is difficult and the future is shadowed by poverty; we too experience similar tensions when our future is threatened.

We also know moments in life that fill our hearts with immense pride and joy, moments that remind us why we do what we do. IGWR began with a moment of realisation, a vision that we could make a difference; that we can give life to a child for the cost of a cup of coffee a day.

And now that is what we do... Our students are the reality that we can make a difference in today’s world, we can shape tomorrow; and as we give them a future shaped in hope, so too we create a better tomorrow for all...

It is clear to us, that in working together, and sharing what we have, we can create hope.

The children we support continue to do well at school, they thrive in college, and they remain focussed as they take up roles in business, commerce and social service occupations. Dreams for a better future can become reality.

A sign of hope in a troubled world.

The IGWR Inc. committee members often feel like proud parents; with two of our students studying to become nurses in Bengaluru, India we are delighted to see “our kids” establishing their careers and on their way to financial independence.

IGWR Nepal has a successful record of seeing students through their school years and on into college or university, we have a commitment to helping them break the cycle of poverty and to becoming self-sufficient; for some that also brings their whole family out of poverty and enables all to contribute more to the life of their local communities.

We are a “Family of Families”…

Recently we have introduced our first “Business Start-Up” initiative, an inspiration from Raja, who directs our activities in Nepal.

Single mums live under the pressures of low-income, casual labour hours and financial pressures; at the same time, they seek to provide for their children who have, from their first years, been deserted by their fathers. We have given them a break, by providing them with grocery basics every two months; it takes off some of the pressure but still leaves them exposed to exploitation.

This year we celebrated a new initiative, by providing Prem Maya with a business start-up. We’ve established a cafe business and will support her new venture for at least six months. This gives her an opportunity to break free from exploitation and build financial sustainability for herself and her family.

Dreams for a better future can become reality

With your help we can respond to the growing needs in Nepal and turn even more dreams into reality. Your gifts can make an enormous difference… and they go a long way...

Our food bill averages out to around $18.50 per student per week, and they all have a healthy diet that is above average for Nepal. Currently we are supporting forty students and maintain three houses for seventeen that have various needs to be looked after; and yet

in Australia a 2018 government study shows that parents could expect to spend around $140-$170 a week to raise a child.

We are not a large organisation, but we do have wonderful people on the ground in Nepal, and they ensure that our funds are employed where they can make a real difference. So, by sharing a little of what we have, we can in fact create a lot of opportunities that will in turn break the cycle of poverty and give new life to individuals and their entire communities.

IGWR is run by caring volunteers and that means that 99.52% of all monies donated goes directly to the operations of IGWR-Nepal. And remember gifts in Australia are tax deductible.

Thank you for “giving”, you not only enable our work in Nepal but being part of this ‘family of families’ inspires and encourages us and others. From the kids in Nepal… Thank You for everything
