Nose To The Ground : The Ol Pejeta K9 Team

By Leah Crabtree | Project Leader

Happy New Year! As we step into 2026, we want to reflect on a productive final quarter of 2025. Your dedicated support ensured our K9 unit remained a constant, reliable force for conservation and community safety from October through December.

Operational Impact

Our K9 teams were highly active, responding to 22 security interventions this quarter. Whether acting on local intelligence or conducting routine patrols, our dogs and handlers serve as both a powerful deterrent and a primary response tool, providing an essential layer of safety for our community and wildlife.

Education & Advocacy

Connecting with the community is central to our mission. This past quarter, we hosted over 225 guests from various camps and tour companies. These sessions educate the public on how specialized K9 units are revolutionising modern conservation and security.

Peak Performance & Welfare

To ensure our teams are always mission-ready, we prioritised rigorous training and health protocols. The dogs completed intensive tracking and search exercises to maintain high-level proficiency for real-world scenarios. We are proud to report that all dogs remained in peak physical condition. Our handlers maintain a meticulous daily care regimen, complemented by weekly deep-cleaning sessions to ensure the highest standards of animal welfare.

Your generosity keeps our K9s fed, healthy, and ready to respond at a moment’s notice. We look forward to another year of protecting what matters most—together.

Kind regards,

Ol Pejeta
