We’re delighted to share some exciting progress on our latest initiative in Pakistan – a transformative project using Appropriate Paper-based Technology (APT) to improve the lives of children with disabilities.
Over the next three years, we will train 10 therapists and 50 technicians across three local organisations in Karachi to create affordable, custom-made disability aids using simple, recyclable materials. These APT items – such as seating supports and standing frames – will be designed by trained professionals and crafted by technicians, many of whom are parents seeking new skills and employment opportunities.
This programme is more than training. It’s about empowerment, sustainability, and dignity. By the third year, we aim to produce at least 300 high-quality, tailored mobility aids annually – every single one making a tangible difference in a child’s daily life.
Our lead trainers, Heather and Alan, will oversee the core training in November this year, supported by a committed local team. Preparations are well underway, and we’re working closely with partner organisations to ensure every detail – from tools and workshops to documentation and quality control – is in place.
But we can’t do this without you.
Your support has always been vital, and now, as we embark on this new chapter, we ask you to stand with us once more. Your donation will help fund training materials, essential tools, and the creation of high-quality instructional resources in both English and Urdu. Most importantly, it will bring comfort, mobility, and independence to children who need it most.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
