We’re delighted to share some exciting progress from our Appropriate Paper-based Technology (APT) initiative — made possible through your generous support.
In September 2025, we successfully conducted our first-ever APT pre-training session in Pakistan. This milestone was led by our locally certified APT trainers, who previously completed their training in Nepal. Their leadership marks an important step toward building local expertise and sustainability within the programme.
A total of 25 participants, representing three partner organisations, took part in the pre-training. Over the course of the sessions, they explored the core principles of APT — learning how to use simple, affordable materials to create low-cost, sustainable rehabilitation equipment. Participants also began developing plans to establish APT workshops within their own organisations, expanding access to essential resources for people with disabilities in their communities.
This pre-training has laid a strong foundation for the full APT training planned for November 2025, when our UK-based trainers will travel to Pakistan to deliver in-depth, hands-on instruction. During that training, participants will gain practical skills in crafting essential APT items such as standing frames, stools, and corner chairs — tools that make a real difference in mobility, comfort, and independence.
We’re incredibly proud of what has been achieved so far, and we know none of this would have been possible without your partnership. Your continued support helps us empower local teams, strengthen inclusive practices, and bring life-changing rehabilitation solutions within reach for many more people.
Thank you for standing with us in this vital work. We look forward to sharing more progress with you soon.
