A documentary film, initiated by TIPA NGO and directed by Mauritian filmmaker David Constantin, was shot over the course of a year with Grade 4 students at Aimé Césaire Government School.
David followed TIPA’s creative and participatory interventions in the classroom, capturing the children’s journey as they explored citizenship values and essential life skills through art. His presence became a natural part of the class – welcomed by the students, their teacher, and TIPA’s facilitators.
We chose David not only for his talent, but because we wanted this project to be more than a documentary – a true work of art that reflects TIPA’s human-centred and empowering approach, through the unique lens of an artist.
The film will premiere in September in a local cinema for the children, their families, and the school – a moving moment, especially for those experiencing a cinema screening for the very first time. Later, it will be shown to special guests and followed by community screenings in underprivileged regions where TIPA intervenes.
These community projections aim to spark collective reflection on the importance of values in building a more respectful society.
