With your support, 400 migrant and indigenous children in Oaxaca, Mex. will access cultural and educational workshops that provide safety, creativity, and heal. Due to the current social violence crisis, child abuse in Oaxaca has risen by 300%, many live without secure spaces. The Art & Crafts School program offers guidance and dignity while celebrating cultural roots. By participating, you can help give these children valuable experiences that will enrich their lives and broaden their horizons.
Children here face two crises: an earthquake and COVID-19 isolation. Together they worsened education gaps and exposed kids to violent, drug-affected environments. They also lost vital social interaction. Migrant and Zapotec children are even more vulnerable, lacking support networks. This program offers 400 children safe learning spaces that help them overcome these challenges.
We created the Mobile Arts & Crafts School program to provide local and migrant children with workshops in traditional practices, helping them learn, express themselves, and belong. Violence generates vulnerabilities that put them at risk socially and emotionally. Our workshops build resilience, while meetings with parents spark action to protect children.
This project offers a community-based alternative education system as a resilience tool against social conflict. Children gain pride in heritage, emotional tools, and stronger support networks. Each month we accompany 65 local children. Over time, zapotec children will grow safer, healthier, and more resilient despite shrinking aid.
