Introduction
The Alternative to Violence Project (AVP) is a proven, community-based, and volunteer-driven program that equips participants with the skills to resolve conflict nonviolently. Rooted in principles of peacebuilding, empathy, cooperation, and active nonviolence, AVP has empowered communities worldwide, especially in post-conflict and high-risk environments.
In Rwanda, a nation that has made remarkable strides in reconciliation and recovery, the need to nurture a culture of peace among the youth remains critical. Recognizing this, we have developed a tailored AVP workshop program aimed at secondary school and Church youths. The program aims to foster nonviolent communication, emotional intelligence, and leadership skills among young people, equipping them to become peace ambassadors in their schools and communities.
