This new project will bring values education and life skills to 10 vulnerable schools in Aragua, supporting 4,000 children and 150 teachers. Through Alive to the World, we will train and accompany teachers, provide pedagogical materials, and help students build resilience, empathy, self-esteem, and responsible decision-making. The program has already transformed over 180 schools in Venezuela, reducing violence, teen pregnancy, and truancy, and has won over local educational authorities.
In Aragua, thousands of children grow up in communities affected by economic crisis, migration, broken homes, teenage pregnancy, and violence. Teachers work under precarious conditions and lack training in socio-emotional competencies or values-based methodologies. This situation requires an urgent and effective solution to prevent children from remaining trapped in cycles of poverty, vulnerability, and hopelessness
Implementing the Alive to the World program in 10 new schools, complete with teacher training in values education, socio-emotional skills, and story-telling pedagogical materials will lead children and adolescents to think, feel, and act in ways that raise self-esteem and inspire purpose. They will learn and embrace universal values and be motivated and equipped to flourish. In a year, results can be seen in classroom harmony, increased enthusiasm for learning, motivated teachers and local peace
Laying the foundation for a 3-year evaluation of sustainable change in students, teachers, and school communities we have found reduces violence, school dropouts, and teenage pregnancy, while strengthening paternal responsibility, resilience, purpose, and essential life skills. Teacher retention will increase by restoring motivation and support. These schools will become centers of social transformation, forming students to break the cycle of poverty for themselves and future generations.
