From restoring forest cover to strengthening environmental education and improving waste management, together we are building resilience where it matters most. Reforesting Chandaria Ribe Forest: A Growing Model of Community-Led Climate Action

Our partnership with Habib Bank AG Zurich Kenya continues to breathe new life into Chandaria Ribe Forest in Kilifi County. To date, 27,625 trees have been planted, contributing directly to restoring forest cover, enhancing biodiversity, and improving long-term climate resilience.

This project goes beyond planting trees: it is creating real economic opportunities for the community:

• 21 farmers/families were engaged in propagating the seedlings later sold to the church, strengthening livelihood support.

With an estimated 4 family members per household, more than 80 people benefited directly from this income stream.

• An additional 30 community members took part in the transplanting process, building local ownership of the forest.

In total, the project has positively impacted over 100 community members.

Beekeeping has become an anchor livelihood within the forest.

Chandaria Ribe Forest now hosts 33 beehives, with some managed independently by community members who share the harvest with the church. This model strengthens income generation while promoting a healthy, biodiverse ecosystem.

Greening Schools: Expanding Environmental Stewardship Among Students

In Kilifi, we supported Migundini Primary School with the donation and planting of 250 tree seedlings.

These trees will provide long-term shade, improve soil health, enhance the school environment, and serve as learning tools for students as they participate in caring for their growing landscape.

Through these school-based greening activities, young learners are gaining first-hand experience in climate stewardship, shaping a generation that values, protects, and restores the environment.

Promoting Clean, Green Campuses:

In October, during Mazingira Day celebrations, we joined hands with Chandaria Foundation and Premchandbhai Foundation to promote better waste management and environmental cleanliness at Multimedia University of Kenya.

 We donated 25 durable dustbins, supporting the university’s efforts to create a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable learning environment.

This initiative complements tree planting efforts by ensuring proper waste disposal, reducing pollution, and nurturing a culture of environmental responsibility among university students.
