Roshni Ka Safar: Books, Hope, and Healing!

By Amna Hassan Kazmi | CEO

In 2025, Alif Laila Book Bus Society continued its mission to take books, learning, and imagination to children who have the least access to them. Through our project My Book, My Friend, we reached schools, community centers, and children’s groups across Pakistan—many of them in remote or underserved areas where storybooks are rare.

This year’s book donations were made possible through the generous support of our international and local partners. Together, we strengthened libraries, supported educators, and created reading spaces that help children learn, dream, and build brighter futures.

Where Your Books Reached

1. Schools in Mountain and Rural Regions

Thousands of books were delivered to over a hundred schools in northern and remote regions. Children who often walk long distances to attend school now have access to storybooks, picture books, and early readers that ignite imagination and support learning.

"For many children, these books are the first they have ever held that truly belong to them."

2. Community Learning Centers Supporting Underserved Children

We donated books to several community-based organizations working with children from low-income families. These books enriched small reading corners, helped teachers engage children more creatively, and encouraged regular reading habits.

3. Education Support Programs for Vulnerable Communities

Books were shared with initiatives supporting children living in challenging social and economic conditions. These donations helped strengthen existing libraries and set up new reading spaces where learning is joyful and accessible.

4. Book Distribution During Community Relief Drives

During local food distribution drives for families in need, we also distributed books to the children who accompanied them:

  • First round: 1,000 books
  • Second round: 400 books

At a moment when families were struggling for basics, children received something priceless—a story, a spark of joy, and a moment of escape.

5. Public Libraries in Coastal and Rural Areas

We supported a developing public library with 600 books, helping it grow into a vibrant community learning hub for children and adults alike.

6. Memorial and Community Libraries in Small Towns

To support inclusive education in towns with limited access to reading material, we donated a curated set of children’s books to strengthen their collections and encourage daily reading.

7. Early Learning and Youth Development Organizations

A carton of books was shared with a youth support group in northern Pakistan. These books now serve early learners and help educators build small but meaningful reading corners.

8. Schools in Remote Valleys

Books were provided to a school in an isolated valley region, where children now enjoy reading time and access picture books and learning materials previously unavailable.

9. Residential Care Home for Children

We sent a set of storybooks to a residential care home, giving children a chance to enjoy stories, develop language skills, and find joy through reading.

10. Girls’ Schools in Urban Low-Income Areas

A donation was made to revive the library of an overcrowded girls' school with scarce resources. These books now support hundreds of students in reading, comprehension, and creative expression.

11. Schools Supporting Children with Special Needs

A customized carton of books was provided to support inclusive learning for children with developmental and learning challenges.

Emergency Relief with a Purpose – Flood Response 2025

In 2025, severe monsoon floods and a sudden cloudburst devastated several regions of Pakistan. Alif Laila Book Bus Society immediately stepped forward to support affected families—especially children—through relief efforts and educational rehabilitation.

1. Flood Relief for Families in Remote Districts

Food and essential supplies were distributed to 70 families whose homes were surrounded by floodwaters.

2. Urban Flood Relief Near River Communities

We supported 60 families displaced by rising waters and sudden evacuations.

3. Cloudburst Emergency Response in a Mountain Region

In collaboration with a local partner organization, we responded with:

  • Urgent food supplies
  • Community needs assessments
  • Follow-up visits for continued assistance

Rebuilding Learning Environments

Four schools severely affected by the disaster were identified. To restore a sense of safety and normalcy for children, we set up four beautiful “Hamara Kutub Khana” libraries—colorful, inviting reading spaces that help children recover emotionally and continue learning.

Climate Awareness Sessions

We conducted sessions for children and families on:

  • Understanding climate change
  • Its impact on their communities
  • Practical safety measures
  • The role of children in environmental care

These sessions equipped communities with the knowledge and resilience needed to face future climate challenges.

Throughout 2025, Alif Laila Book Bus Society reached thousands of children with books, learning opportunities, and hope. Through library strengthening, book donations, emergency support, and environmental awareness, My Book, My Friend grew into a movement—one that believes every child deserves the joy of reading.

Thank you for supporting us as we continue to place books into the hands of children who need them most. Together, we are building brighter futures, one story at a time.
