We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for your continued support of our work in Kenya over the past five years. Your commitment has enabled us to address critical health and hygiene challenges while laying the groundwork for long-term, sustainable change.
In a remote community where stigma and limited infrastructure affect daily life, our programs promote menstrual health awareness, safe disposal practices, and equitable menstrual hygiene management. Through community workshops, we are helping to shift perceptions so that menstruation is recognized as a natural part of life—and no longer a reason for girls to miss school.
A key initiative has been the introduction of reusable sanitary napkins made from medical-grade, super-absorbent materials. These are produced by embroiderers in a nearby refugee camp, providing girls with safe, affordable options while generating vital income opportunities for refugees. At the same time, the construction of toilets and hand-washing stations continues to strengthen hygienic practices across the wider community.
As previously shared, we are also supporting solid waste management operations in Kakuma, Kenya, further improving environmental health conditions and reinforcing sustainable hygiene systems.
Although funding challenges persist, we are witnessing steady progress: improved hygiene behaviors, greater school attendance and confidence among girls, and more open, supportive community dialogue. These changes represent meaningful steps toward dignity, equity, and resilience.
We warmly invite you to continue following our Kenya initiatives through the Peace Winds website, where we regularly share updates, stories from the field, and the ongoing impact of your support.
We remain committed to deepening this impact and continuing our work alongside the communities we serve. Thank you for your trust, partnership, and belief in our mission.
With sincere appreciation,
The Kenya Team
