Project Report | Mar 11, 2026
No Schools, No Shoes, No Walls

By Giulia Camuffo | Project Associate

The situation in Gaza remains critical. While the reduction in heavy aerial bombardments has led to a decrease in immediate casualties, the humanitarian reality for the 2.3 million people on the ground is increasingly dire. Entire neighborhoods and cities—including Beit Lahia, Beit Hanoun and Jabalia —have been almost entirely erased, leaving a landscape of ruins where infrastructure, electricity, and water systems no longer exist.

In this video update, Father Gabriel Romanelli (Pastor of the Holy Family Parish) shares a firsthand account of the daily struggle for survival. He describes a world where families live in buildings without walls or in makeshift tents exposed to rain and broken sewage systems.

The Reality on the Ground

  • A Generation in the Streets: Thousands of children are walking barefoot through contaminated water, deprived of schools and a stable future.

  • Total Deprivation: There is a constant need for "good water," medicine, and electricity.

  • The Mission of Dignity: Through the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, we are fighting to protect every human life—regardless of nationality or religion—from its beginning to its end.

Our response must be more consistent and larger in scale. We are not just providing aid; we are trying to provide a future where there is currently only ruin.
