Amid the severe humanitarian conditions faced by displaced families in the informal camps in northern Gaza, even the most basic necessities of daily life have become extremely difficult to obtain. One of the most urgent needs is access to safe drinking water. With much of the water infrastructure damaged and clean water sources becoming scarce, many families are forced to wait for hours hoping to obtain just a small amount of water to meet their daily needs.
In one of these overcrowded informal camps, where fragile tents line narrow pathways and families struggle to survive under extremely harsh conditions, our field team carried out a humanitarian initiative to distribute safe drinking water to displaced families. The goal was to help ease their daily suffering and provide one of the most essential elements of life.
When the water tanker arrived at the camp, families quickly gathered with their plastic containers and jerrycans, reflecting the immense need for clean water. Long lines formed as people waited patiently for their turn, while our team and volunteers organized the distribution process to ensure that as many families as possible could receive water.
Children were among those most actively present, helping fill containers and carrying them back to their tents to assist their families. For them, water is no longer something easily taken for granted — it has become a precious resource they must seek every single day.
Providing clean drinking water in these camps not only eases the suffering of displaced families but also helps protect children and the elderly from diseases that can result from unsafe water sources.
This humanitarian activity was made possible thanks to the generosity and support of donors who continue to stand beside vulnerable families in Gaza.
