Lebanon is going through one of the worst economic collapses in modern history. Over 80% of the population lives below the poverty line, the public healthcare system is underfunded, while private care is prohibitively expensive for most. Access to medicine has become a daily struggle, with many life-saving drugs either unavailable or unaffordable. Chronic patients, pregnant womend, kids, elderly people and low-income families are often left without the care they need to survive.
Pro Terra Sancta operates two medical dispensaries-one in Tripoli and one soon to be inaugurated in Beirut-offering vital services to people in need. The dispensaries provide: free or subsidized access to essential and rare medications; regular check-ups for chronic disease patients; medical consultations across multiple specialties; financial coverage for urgent surgical procedures. In 2024, over 1,700 patients were treated in Tripoli, while in Beirut preliminary activities have just begun.
Beyond meeting urgent medical needs, the dispensaries offer a stable point of reference for entire communities. Over time, they will ensure continuous access to healthcare for thousands, including preventive services, pediatric care and chronic disease management. This long-term presence builds resilience in local communities, promotes health equity, and empowers individuals to regain control over their lives.
