Rescuing is Additive!

Charis Youth Ranch has had many dedicated volunteers over the past 15 years.  People volunteer for a variety of reasons, but the one constant is their love of horses.  Some have had lots of experience working with horses, many have had little experience and want to learn more about these magnificent creatures.  All of our volunteers recognize the value of rescue and some, in turn, rescue horses to call their own.

We frequently get calls from owners who have to give up their horses for one reason or another.  Unfortunately, we can’t take them all, so we put the offer out to our volunteers.  Here are just 2 examples of our volunteers paying back to the horse rescue community:

Jeanne, has volunteered for 5 years and is an experienced horse-owner.  She took Henry, a 20 year old quarter horse who had been owned by a young woman since he was 2.  This woman is now a young mother of a toddler and baby and was moving to Kentucky.  She knew she could not give her horse the time and attention he needed and was reluctant to move him to a new place.  Jeanne did not hesitate to give him her heart and a life-long home.  He now lives on 6 beautiful acres in Wyoming.

Jaycee, has volunteered for a year and is a newbie to horse ownership.  She fell in love with George, a 22 year old quarter horse from a woman who could no longer care for him.  She is boarding him at a barn with 15 horses. She is taking lessons on him, working part time at the barn and learning all about horse care.

It warms our heart to know that because of Charis Youth Ranch, horses and their new people have been brought together.
