Overview
This progress report outlines the activities and impact of Rural Literacy Solutions for the period of July to September 2025. Despite ongoing funding constraints, we have sustained our core literacy programs at Kanvilli Nuriya Primary School and expanded outreach efforts, supported by dedicated individual donors and community partners.
Program Activities
Our efforts this quarter focused on strengthening and sustaining our key literacy initiatives:
After-School Literacy Sessions: We continued delivering after-school literacy sessions, emphasizing reading comprehension, creative writing, and vocabulary enrichment. These sessions were tailored to meet the needs of students across different grade levels, fostering a love for reading and improved literacy skills.
Moodlebox Digital Literacy Program: The Moodlebox platform remained a cornerstone of our digital literacy efforts, providing students with access to interactive educational resources. This quarter, we introduced new digital modules focused on critical thinking and basic coding skills to enhance digital fluency.
Impact
During this reporting period, approximately 320 students from grades 1 to 6 at Kanvilli Nuriya Primary School benefited from our programs. Feedback from teachers indicates noticeable improvements in students’ reading fluency and confidence in writing. The Moodlebox program has also increased student engagement with technology, with 85% of participants showing improved digital literacy skills.
Challenges & Opportunities
Limited funding continues to restrict our ability to scale programs to additional schools. However, we have identified new grant opportunities and initiated discussions with two potential corporate sponsors to support program expansion. Strengthening existing partnerships with local schools and community leaders has also opened avenues for volunteer-driven initiatives, which could help offset resource constraints.
Looking Ahead
Rural Literacy Solutions remains dedicated to enhancing literacy and digital skills in rural communities. In the coming quarter, we plan to pilot a peer-to-peer reading mentorship program to further engage students and promote collaborative learning. We will also continue pursuing funding opportunities to expand our reach to neighboring schools. With sustained support from our donors and partners, we are optimistic about creating a broader, lasting impact on literacy education in rural areas.
