A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has donated to support the classroom rebuild at Kuyasa Educare Centre in Khayelitsha, Cape Town.
Re-building this classroom will allow the school to receive government funding, and ensure the children have a safe place to learn, build skills, and prepare for primary school. Evidence indicates that success at a young age translates into success in higher levels of education and adulthood.
The team on the ground have been busy working with the principal to prepare the land agreements needed for the classroom construction and plan the rebuild!
To wrap up 2019, the Grade R students had a graduation ceremony! Students, teachers, parents, and African Impact volunteers were all present to celebrate their special day.
Girls, dressed up in white dresses, and boys, in suits, performed various songs, dances and poems with everyone cheering them on! Staff and volunteers from African Impact donated stationary to the students for the kick-off of 2020, and gifted flowers to the teachers and principal. What a wonderful and rewarding day it was for the students!
After a much deserved break the students and teachers are back for the first semester of the year, and we are more excited than ever to be working with such an incredible group of children and educators.
Thank you for making this project possible and for believing in the power of education!
