The Batwa people of Idjwi Island, Congo strive to overcome isolation, discrimination and poverty. But lack of food brings protein deficiency to their young children. When their black hair turns brittle and yellow, and they become listless and uninterested in children’s games, they are suffering from the condition known as “Kwashiorkor”.
Luckily, this young boy has received daily porridge for three months and has overcome the malaise of chronic hunger. Now, his bright eyes carry the determination to survive… and the big spoon in his hand shows that porridge is his new “BFF”.
Thank you for your generous support so that young children like him can survive and thrive!
