The youth leaders of Cyaruzinge VIlage have had a busy Spring. They organized themselves as an active change agent in the community and set to work. First, they helped the people of Kinyana VIllage improve their kitchen gardens. Then, they began to make bricks out of clay. The bricks are heavy and can create strong walls when stacked tightly together.
As a team, they stacked the bricks and cemented them with wet clay. When that dries, they will plaster over the bricks with another layer of clay to protect the inner wall against the torrential rains. Afterwards, a carpenter will attach a metal roof and a sturdy wooden door, to complete the privacy room around the toilet hole.
The elderlay woman who lives near the new toilet will finally have a private place to attend to her personal hygiene...for the first time in her life! The youth are leading the way to show that teamwork works wonders. Thank you, our donors for supporting this fantastic effort of the youthful leaders as they honor their elders and build confidence in their ability to make the world a better place.
