Dear Bumi Sehat Donors,
Thanks to your generosity, the Build Staff Housing for Bumi Sehat Aceh project has reached — and closed — its funding goal much faster than expected. When we began, we anticipated a full renovation or rebuild of the original post-tsunami staff housing. However, once work started, the construction team found that much of the structure was sound.
Instead of demolishing and rebuilding, we focused on repairing and replacing the parts that were unsafe — such as rotten beams, damaged flooring, and weakened walls — while preserving the overall original framework. This approach not only reduced waste and preserved the building’s history, but also significantly lowered the overall cost.
The savings meant the project could be completed more quickly, allowing staff and their families to move back into secure, private housing sooner than planned. Stable housing means our dedicated midwives, nurses, and support staff can continue serving the 50 births, 570 prenatal visits, and 19,000 medical treatments our clinic provides each year — without interruption or the risk of losing team members due to inadequate housing.
We are deeply grateful to every donor who made this possible. Your support has ensured long-term stability for our staff and the community we serve.
If you want to read the 2024 Bumi Sehat Gratitude Report for more details about the work our Aceh clinic is doing, you can access it onine here: https://bumisehat.org/media/2024-annual-report/.
Love & Blessings,
Ibu Robin and Team Bumi Sehat Aceh
