2 years have passed since we opened our children's home in Birgunj. We have seen an amazing change in all the boys and the whole project.
The buffalo is really happy and some great news - she will have a new baby in 3 months, so a new addition to the Our Sansar family coming soon! The home is very much welcoming - it's not uncommon to see the buffalo or a chicken inside, or our dogs playing with a chicken outside.
We have quite a few own vegetables in our garden and the boys are really enjoying planting their own veggies. They get nutritional food, eggs, milk and loads our own organic cucumbers, beans, pumpkins and other greens. We are now planning to plant lemon and mango trees to provide great fruit, shade and to keep the snakes away.
The boys are also learning more about recycling and, unusually for most of Nepal, we keep all the plastic separate and not burn it as other households do in the area. We will be taking plastic bottles to a recycling factory in Hetauda and will be speaking to the authorities in Birgunj to initiate more eco friendly activities in the area.
We will be keeping you up to date with all the developments as there should be quite a few in the nearest future.
And thank you everyone again for all the donations - without you, the project would never be possible!
