The last few months in Nepal have been very challenging, with political upheaval and violent protests sadly becoming a daily occurrence, so our staff and children were so happy to be able to welcome a new member to the Our Sansar family - a new baby buffalo! The children are still deciding on the name so we will announce that in the next report.
Saroj, our new social worker, who is also training to be a home manager, joined our team a few months ago and from the beginning insisted on expanding the vegetables we grow - so now we have an even more impressive veggie garden, with tomatoes, beans, mustard, potatoes, cauliflowers and many more things growing amazingly quickly.
The situation in Birgunj continues to be difficult and not very safe, but the schools have reopened so our children are very happy to study again. They have just had their end of year exam results and all of them passed, with some boys even coming first in their classes. We are all so proud of them and believe this is an incredible achievement given what they have been through before coming to the Our Sansar children’s home.
One of the boys that we rescued in Dhading and who was staying at our Dhading transit home, found a new home with us in Birgunj. It's really lovely to see him amongst his 17 new brothers, he’s even being enthusiastic about going to school!
The children continue to have their computer and guitar classes and are getting better and better all the time. In March we are planning to send two of our oldest boys to Kathmandu for work experience placements so we will be updating you on all that. And as always, thank you so much for all your support - none of this would be possible without it.
