Apply Learnings into Practice, the DIY project

By Linda To | Executive Director, HER Fund

The 3 sessions of Program Design training were successfully held in April and May. 3 self-help women’s groups with 19 core members participating in the training felt that the training was very useful to their work. 84% of the participants rated 8 or above in the 10 points-score expressing that they have now more confidence to work on developing a proposal and designing a program for their organization. They shared that the learning was useful and they can now try to plan in a more systematic way, knowing the steps and framework of designing a program. After the training, the 3 groups will move on to design a program to be carried out to meet the needs of their members and women in the community – the DIY program. They will raise 1300 USD by themselves and a matching grant of 5000 USD will be given to each group to implement the program they designed.

The sex workers group is planning to run an educational program targeting the public to understand “sex work is work”; the new immigrant women’s group is developing a program to expand their services and organizing work in a new district area; and the grassroots women’s group is going to develop a program on peer support work.

This capacity building process aims to enhance their application of learning into their day-to-day work in the organization so that they have the ability to help more women in need. Your donation definitely can help make this happen and surely we will share more with you as they move on to running the DIY programs in the coming months. Thank you !
