Raising Capacities to Lead Sustains Change

By Linda To | Executive Director, HER Fund

When this Capacity Building Project started 2 years ago, the participants from the 3 participating marginalized women's self-help organizations were enthusiastic and committed to lead the organizations but they were not equipped with the knowledge and skills of leading. Eventhough they had the urge to learn and they saw the need,  they have no idea about their roles and responsiblities as governing members and how they can manage the organizations effectively.

Through the workshops and the mentoring support from in-house trainers, the participants have, not only acquired the skills and knowledge in running the organizations but become confident to try and make new attempts. They designed their own fundraising and service programs , maximizing their output and more grassroots women can be benefitted from their work.

The 3 organizations will be launching their own DIY ( Do it Yourself ) fundraisng and service program in the coming 4 months and they had prepared well-thought  program proposals for HER Fund to sponsor their work.

Another recent encouraging news is, 2 participants from the New Immigrant Women's Group stepped down from the Executive Committee and became the part-time paid workers of the organization, with a mission to expand their services to a new low-income area in Tokawan. From their growth and development, they are then able to help other women in need and be the peer model to them.

Your donation to this project does not only serve those in need but building capacities of grassroots women leaders to bring positive change to the community and help those in need. The output multiplies and the impact sustains. We still need your donation to support their DIY programs and we hope you will give to add strength to this initiative.

Thank you for your support !
