Meet Nafuna, a mother of strength and hope. She is a testament to the incredible work that the team in Uganda are doing every day. But we are facing a huge problem as our donations stop coming in. We need your support to keep our project running and continue to save the lives of these tiny, vulnerable newborns. Let Nafuna's story inspire you to encourage your friends and family to
set up a regular donation here.
“My name is Nafuna, and I am 28 years old. My pregnancy journey was far from easy. At just four months, I battled a severe infection, and later, at six months, I experienced headaches and bleeding. That’s when I was rushed to hospital, where I delivered my baby weighing only 1.1kg. After delivery, my tiny baby was admitted to the neonatal unit. I was encouraged to do kangaroo care to keep my baby warm, but the old unit was overcrowded and unbearably hot. I even fainted once. The space was small, hygiene was difficult, and I feared for my baby’s life. Then came a miracle — the new neonatal extension was opened, and I was among the first mothers to be transferred there. The difference was incredible: more space, better hygiene, and even a comfortable kangaroo chair. For the first time, I felt safe, supported, and hopeful. Today, my little one has grown from 1.1kg to 1.45kg, and I am filled with hope that soon we will be discharged. This is more than just MY story — it’s the story of how better facilities save lives, bring dignity to mothers, and give fragile babies a fighting chance.”
