Dear HOPE Supporter,
We have exciting news to report! We have recently been given the opportunity to add a very special component to our cervical cancer project: breast cancer training, screening and detection! Breast cancer is the number one cause of cancer deaths in women in Bangladesh. The current estimate puts the occurrence rate at 22.5 per 100,000 females. Naturally this rate is probably much higher given a lack of mortality reporting in rural areas.
What exactly will this component entail? It will comprise our physicians, nurses, midwives and other to be trained to conduct a thorough breast examination. Our surgeon and other highly capable medical staff will be trained in fine needle biopsy. Any women in need of a lumpectomy will be provided one, by HOPE's surgeon and OB/GYN. HOPE's breast cancer screening will be done simultaneously as our cervical cancer screening, so that we are providing the most comprehensive reproductive and women's health examinations. Extensive outreach will be done to educate the community on doing self-examinations.
Please help us make this cancer prevention project a reality. Together, we can save the lives of thousands.
Best Regards,
Ashley Pugh
