Dear Friend,
We welcome you to another interesting update on the happenings in our children's lives.
The Monsoons have arrived with full zest and vigour just like our children who have stepped in this new academic year with great enthusiasm and energy. We see many new admissions of children in our Homes and Shelters and we hope that with your help we will be able to bring the right change and smiles to the faces of all children.
Education is fundamental for achieving full human potential, developing an equitable and just society, and promoting national development.
Every child, no matter who they are or where they come from, deserves access to quality learning opportunities and we at El Shaddai with your help and support strive to give these children the future they dream of.
We would like to share the story of one of our child named Jiya (Name changed) whose family migrated to Goa for work and settled in the most neglected spaces degraded land infested with mosquitoes and flies with no drainage or water, electricity or garbage disposal.
The child lived with her father, mother, three siblings and grandmother. Her father could not find any work and took to alcohol to drown his sorrows. This continued for many years and one-day child’s father unfortunately passed away due to liver failure.
This was a big blow to the family and the child’s mother could not take this family’s burden any longer and decided to abandon the family. The Grandmother could not see the plight of her grandchildren and decided to beg for alms in order to survive. Now this was the second blow in her life. Where would she go with her siblings and old grandmother? The child was left in utter pain and despair.
As she sat outside wondering what would be her fate, she saw the El Shaddai vehicle and the outreach workers approaching her. Her joy knew no bounds as she realised they had come to help her.
Our outreach workers immediately took charge of the matter and now the child and her siblings live in our Homes. They are all attending school for the first time and are experiencing what a real childhood actually is. Now they no longer have to go to sleep hungry or wonder where their next meal will come from.
Of course, her story is inspiring. But sadly her story is the story of many children from our State and our country
We can help more children like her and we can only do it because of kind people like you! With your love and support, we can blaze ahead to fulfil our common goal. We the El Shaddai family thank you for being our driving force and our pillar of help.
Thank you for being a part of our team of supporters that are making our project a reality.
