As part of our commitment to the mental health and emotional well-being of the community, we conducted an activity focused on suicide prevention at CEII Caminitos. This initiative aimed to raise awareness, reduce the stigma associated with mental health challenges, and convey a hopeful message: suicide is preventable.
Our goals were to:
Raise awareness about the importance of suicide prevention.
Reduce the social stigma surrounding mental health.
Foster emotional expression through messages of encouragement and solidarity.
Create a visual resource (a board of notes) to inspire hope and connection among participants.
The activity was structured around three key moments:
Introductory Talk on Suicide Prevention
Myths and facts about suicide were addressed.
Emphasis was placed on it being a preventable problem and that seeking help is an act of courage.
Creation of Encouragement Letters
Participants wrote messages for people who may be going through an emotional crisis. Some highlighted phrases included:
"What you feel matters."
"It's okay not to be okay."
"Regaining meaning and the will to live is possible."
Construction of the "Board of Life Notes"
The letters were placed on a collective mural, creating a mosaic of hope. This board will serve as a visual reminder that no one is alone in their struggle.
This activity would not have been possible without the support of our donors. Your commitment allows us to continue implementing life-saving activities that strengthen communities.
"Every note on the board is a reminder that together we can prevent suicide."
