Challenge

Women make up half the world's population but only 39% of the workforce, contributing just 37% of global GDP. Social and economic barriers, limited digital access, and lack of mentorship and networks prevent millions of young women from securing dignified employment. Their exclusion from decision-making and the formal economy has far-reaching consequences for families, communities and global progress.

Solution

Founded in 2002 on the belief that every woman holds a spark to ignite change, Women's Education Project provides the Leadership Academy, a holistic, community-based, career-readiness program, anchored in a sisterhood and a community of mentors and role models. The program is hybrid, supported by LAMP (Leadership Academy in My Pocket), a mobile-first platform, enabling self-directed exploration of career paths.

Long-Term Impact

WEP's 2025 Impact Assessment report showed that 81% of our students entered formal sector employment or are pursuing further education. 92% receive regular mentorship. 43% of alumnae are mentors. 89% are satisfied with their careers. 75% have learned new skills. 94% are actively learning new skills and seeking guidance.
