By Francis Mbewe | Project Leader
In Vubwi District, Eastern Province of Zambia, Mweni's kitchen was once filled with smoke and fumes every time she cooked dinner for her family. The traditional three-stone fire was not only hazardous to her health, but it also wasted a lot of fuelwood.
That all changed when she received an improved clean cookstove from Kukula Solar, made possible by generous donors on GlobalGiving. Now, Mweni cooks efficiently, using less charcoal and reducing her household's carbon footprint.
Her children no longer complain of itchy eyes and coughs from the smoke. With the money saved from reduced fuel costs, Mweni has started a small vegetable garden, improving her family's nutrition and income.
The clean cookstove has brought a breath of fresh air to Mweni's kitchen and a healthier life for her family.
A big thank you to all our generous supporters on GlobalGiving for making this possible - your kindness is transforming lives!
