We are very happy to say the first filters have now been distributed in the community and are actively being used. The families who received them worked very hard in the beach clean to collect lots of waste plastic and they were very happy when they received the filters. Community buy in is an essential part of the project, by bringing the community together like this the issue is highlighted and people are keen to work together to improve things.
The filters are much better for the environment by reducing waste plastic but they are also help reduce costs, boosting the families economy.
Everyone is keen to participate more in the initiative and to do more for the environment and they are now getting organised to create a recycling centre in town.
