On October 15th, AAI supported schools celebrated Global Handwashing Day!

With the motto: "Clean Hands for All", this annual  event celebrated in schools across the world "advocates to increase awareness and understanding about the importance of handwashing with soap. The impact in Asia America's Philippine schools emphasizes the celbration as an "effective and affordable way to prevent diseases and save lives."

Our teams of dedicated AAI Mini Nurses demonstrated good hygiene routines to their fellow students.  Consistent with their pledge of service, they are always ready to assist and raise awareness about the benefits of handwashing with soap.

"We are raising the consciousness of of community by the school children developing habits that are fundamental to disease prevention," said Nurse Shareen, head of the office for Health and Nutrition Services in Jolo, Sulu.

Asia America Initiative prioritizes teachers and parents at our elementary schools to build clean water systems. With WASH facilities at each school, we promote adequate nutrition through school lunches cooked by volunteer mothers. School-based gardens provide fresh vegetables for lunch using drip irrigation from clean water tanks. Soaps and other hygiene products improve children's overall health for better classroom performance and less days absent due to sanitation deficiencies,"

The long-term impact of this program is to improve health and school conditions.

We also want to let you know, we will be combining this project with our long term relief project Unite Inter-Faith Children via Education and Water.

Your continued support is essential in keeping communities healthy and improving their quality of life. We will continue sending you reports on our progress as part of our long term project. Also, you may prefer making a monthly donation instead. Global Giving is generously providing a 100% match for your initial donation. It's a great way to double your impact!
