Securing Sustainable Clean Water

By Nicholus Nuwagira | Project Leader

Dear Partners,

We write to you with deep gratitude for your continued support toward providing clean and safe water to 80 vulnerable orphans at St. Mugagga Boys Home in Uganda. Your generosity has made a visible and life-changing impact. The children now have access to clean water for drinking, cooking, bathing, and maintaining proper hygiene. As a result, their health has improved, sanitation standards have risen, and the Home has become a safer and more dignified environment for every child.

However, this quarter we would like to focus especially on a critical challenge that is threatening the sustainability of these gains: the incomplete reservoir tank.

Although the water system is operational, it lacks sufficient storage capacity. Without a fully installed and properly functioning reservoir tank, we are unable to store enough water to meet the daily needs of the children consistently. During times of irregular supply or increased demand, the Home experiences shortages. This situation creates uncertainty and places the children at risk of returning to the difficult days when access to safe water was limited.

The reservoir tank is not simply an addition to the project, it is the backbone of a sustainable water system. Without it, the system cannot operate efficiently or reliably. Our current financial capacity is insufficient to complete this essential component, and this has become our greatest obstacle.

At the same time, we are working hard to strengthen long-term sustainability. Alongside our child care and protection program, we have established a school to reduce the financial burden of paying tuition outside the Home. This initiative is helping us redirect limited resources toward essential needs like feeding and family economic strengthening programs. However, both the Home and the school depend heavily on a stable water supply. Without completing the reservoir tank, the entire institution remains vulnerable.

We therefore humbly appeal to you, our valued partners, to once again join hands with us. By helping us overcome this reservoir challenge, you will secure reliable and sustainable access to clean water for 80 vulnerable children. Completing this final phase will protect the progress already made and ensure lasting impact.

We remain deeply grateful to everyone who has donated, prayed for this project, and supported us in any way. May God bless you abundantly and reward your generosity.

With sincere appreciation,
