The Female Guides Program provides skills training, mentorship, job shadowing, and rotations at African Bush Camps. This two-year program empowers women, promoting gender equality and expanding career opportunities in a traditionally male-dominated field. The African Bush Camps Foundation currently has 12 female guides in training in Botswana and Zambia.
In 2025, we launched the program in Zimbabwe, where two guides joined. Over the past eight months, these trainees showed tremendous progress—one was offered permanent employment as Zimbabwe's first female guide. Additionally, two new trainees joined in Botswana and two in Zambia. Maemo graduated from the program in Botswana, alongside two other female guides who completed their training. To date, seven female guides have graduated and secured full-time employment, with 12 currently in training.
Our flagship Women in Tourism Program in Zimbabwe has seen tremendous success. It offers educational training and skill-building opportunities in the tourism sector for disadvantaged women from communities surrounding our camps in Botswana, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. In 2025, over 30 interns graduated in November. Participants gained valuable exposure through rotations across multiple camp departments, alongside in-class courses at certified hospitality schools—equipping them with certifications, skills, and qualifications for careers in tourism and safari operations.
By partnering with our women empowerment programs, you're helping train the next generation of talented female guides and interns, opening doors and creating sustainable career paths in a field where women are making a vital impact.
