This initiative for community design has proven to be very popular and thanks to your assistance in 2025 we have been able to certify community leaders from many sectors of the island, professionals related to scientific and environmental venues and university students. Last year we partnered with Caribbean Regenerative Community Development as well as 15 leaders and professionals from diverse backgrounds from towns like Cidra, Coamo, Isabela, Lajas, Ponce, San Juan, San Germán, Trujillo Alto, and Yauco to promote this participatory management tool.
As an adaptive tool, La Cartuchera, has served as a means to increase community management, story telling engagement, routing and mapping as to understand immediate spatial needs as well as to create timelines for projects and space uses. In the western part of the island this has assisted in documenting experiences related to flooding and fire history—topics that advance their knowledge and contribute to achieving their long-term project goals.
These certification, all though intended to be presented as a service to communities and organizations interested have been often offered as a grant, requiring time commitments from our staff, logistics around location, transportation and food accommodations to be provided from our overhead allocations. There is no way we aould have done this without your generous contributions!
As we previously reported we are currently updating and translating La Cartuchera to incorporate new tools and resources to strengthen the work of community leaders. We are also preparing new printings to expand our distribution and ensure more participants can access it as educational material and apply it in their communities to foster organizational skills and project development. We appreciate you and wish you continue walking the path towards co creating our communities in year 2026 with us.
