GOOD RESULTS IN CONTINUED TREATMENT OF CLIENTS

By Jacinta van Luijk | KAP Coordinator & Education Officer

Addiction Psycho-Education of Older Street Youths
Addiction Psycho-Education of Older Street Youths

First of all we would like to apologise to our Donors and Well-Wishers for our silence in the past few months. This was caused by a very hectic work schedule and leaves of our staffs in charge of report-writing. However, we have been truly grateful for your continued support!

PART 1. CONTINUED AND SUCCESSFUL ACTIVITIES FOR 'OLD KAP CLIENTS'
Although funding did not allow for KAP to start a treatment course for new Clients, 37 of those who had already started their treatment (our so-called 'Old Clients') were able to continue their journey towards completion of their treatment and sobriety.

As shown in our previous report this is leading to good results of sobriety and happiness!

Activities included 7 Refresher / Continuous Education Workshops for 5 Treatment Groups in the Kitale shanty town areas: Folkland, Soko Moko, Nyota and Community of Hope.

In addition, from May through August 2023 KAP's 5 Addiction Recovery Coaches made 143 Home-Visits to their Clients and their families, with an average of 35 visits per month.

ATTACHMENT "GlobalGiving.55490.Project 2.Narrative and Financial Report. September 2023" describes further details.

PART 2. IN ADDITION TO the above activities, during the reporting period there have been three PSYCHO-EDUCATION SESSIONS on Alcohol and Substance Abuse as well as three RECOVERY COACHES (COUNSELLING) SUPERVISION SESSIONS, as follows:

Psycho-Education Sessions on Abuse/Addiction
1) and 2) In Lukhuna, Kitale  on 09.02.2023 and 15.02.2023 with 30 beneficiaries (in addition to previous report);
3) In Milimani, Kitale for World of Work Older Street Youth on the 27.07.2023 with 25 Beneficiaries

Recovery Coaches-TOTs (Counselling) Supervision Sessions for Recovery Coaches with KAP Staffs(all at KAP Counselling Room):
1) May with 5 participants (Coaches and 1 Staff)
2) 14th June 2023 with 6 participants
3) 28th July 2023 with 5 participants

PART 3. FROM OCTOBER 2023 ONWARDS KAP is happy to have received additional funding for its activities for old and new Clients.
However, as within this new budget, funding for vital continuous education and professional counselling support for KAP's Staffs and Coaches is insufficient, we will be happy to use our budget within this GlobalGiving project for this purpose!

With very many thanks to our faithful donors for making our GlobalGiving activities for our abusing and addicted Clients possible!
Testimonies of Clients, as descried in previous reports, are evidence that your contributions have saved lives!
