At the pilot location outside of Marrakech of this innovative agricultural-cultural program that provides fruit trees for farming families by way of a Moroccan interfaith collaboration, the roofing structure where the tree nursery caretakers and the many visitors come needs replacement.
This is due from damage from the earthquake and the recent rains (which has been so fortunate for the country).
The interdependence of the different programs for development come together at this location advancing the very good outcomes of each of the initiatives.
Farming communities launched the tree nursery on land lent without cost from the Moroccan Jewish Community (adjacent to their historic cemetery) and the vibrant nursery catalyzed the nearby Achbarou Women’s Cooperative.
Visitors from universities, groups nationally and internationally, come to this location of the nursery and Cooperative as part of a whole, and are inspired by their integration, along with the villages’ cultivation of the fruit trees in their fields and the investments in their water infrastructure for both irrigation and drinking.
Altogether, the multiple projects enable the more complete vision of interlinking and how they layer and complete each other.
We also now have a model of cultural preservation because the neighboring communities see the cemetery as not just a provider of empty land near to it, but a constant destination of visitors because of its exceptional incorporation of heritage and livelihood.
Help us raise $10,000 to fully restore the roofing and interiors so that the visitors who are inspired and clients of the women’s cooperative are wonderfully received.
