This fall we have continued to raise awareness about the work the Collective for Orphan Care and Education does and have been raising money so that we can complete the last components of construction for the library. We are hoping to raise another $5,000 before the year ends to complete this work.
In September, we participated as a vendor at the Trinity River Book Festival in Fort Worth, TX. We spoke with many people about the work we do. We also put together a 5k team for the Book Festival's Run-to-Read and we won a medal for having the largest 5k team!
In Sijowa Village, we hired a groundskeeper to ensure that the building and lot are cared for and secure.
Our next steps, likely in 2026, will be to begin filling the library. We'll be applying for grants to secure computers, printers, and tablets as well as raising money to pay for the building and installation of book shelves, tables, and chairs, and we'll be working with Books for Development, our partner in Houston, to ship and set up books within the library.
This has been a long journey and when the library is built, it won't be over. We appreciate your continued interest and support. Thank you for all you do to make our work possible!
