The Bring America Home Now campaign has evolved into a highly effective organizing and mobilization initiative. The National Coalition has focused our advocacy on promoting the adaptive reuse of abandoned properties. NCH has collaborated with the Pew Research Institute and the National Coalition for Housing Justice to launch a One Million Unit Adaptive Reuse Campaign. Additionally, NCH has worked with Congress to introduce two Senate bills and one House bill that include provisions for adaptive reuse.
NCH has also supported the rapid development of our field sites as regional hubs. In particular, our Northeast field site in King County, Washington, is making significant progress in organizing throughout the region. Our Southern field office has relocated to Atlanta and will support efforts across the southern states and U.S. territories. We have established partnerships with organizations such as the National Homeless Union in California. Our fourth field site, based in Los Angeles, is a collaboration with Housing Is a Human Right. This office is engaged in grassroots, direct service work, as well as tenant organizing; a key goal of the campaign is to bridge advocacy between tenants and individuals experiencing homelessness.
Furthermore, the campaign continues to develop state captains in 38 other states, reflecting substantial growth in both numbers and influence at the state and federal levels. Additional objectives include increasing cross-sector collaboration and advancing narrative change by emphasizing workforce development support. We are also developing a sweat equity bill intended to foster employment opportunities in the construction sector for those with lived experience.
