Identification of Participants

Based on the participant identification criteria introduced in our previous report, we visited vulnerable returnees’ households, and nine women and one man were identified as project participants.

Implementation of Business Training

The participants identified for this livelihood support project already possessed vocational experience and technical skills. However, they lacked the knowledge and tools necessary to start or expand small-scale businesses. Therefore, we conducted business training sessions incorporating group discussions, covering the following topics:

  • Basic business concepts
  • Types of businesses
  • Core principles of business management
  • Marketing methods
  • Understanding customer needs
  • Accounting and record management

Pre- and post-training assessments confirmed improvements in both business knowledge and practical skills among the participants. After the training, participants expressed strong satisfaction with the overall quality and professionalism of the sessions.

One participant shared that the training helped resolve her confusion regarding record management, profit calculation, and marketing, and enabled her to manage her tailoring business more effectively.

Provision of Tools and Materials

Nine female participants received sewing kits, including sewing machines, fabric, and scissors. The one male participant received a sales kit for cart-based vending, consisting of a cart and winter clothing items.

After joining the project, the male participant began selling winter sweaters for infants from his cart. Although he sold for only half a day, he reported to staff that he earned enough income to cover one to two meals for a family of seven.

Your warm support is steadily empowering vulnerable returnees in Afghanistan to rebuild their lives and move toward greater stability. JEN will continue its efforts to support people to become self-reliant, break the cycle of poverty, and assist both adults and children in seizing their tomorrow in their hands.
