Inclusive Empowerment through SRHR Mentorship

By Blessing Chaipa | Director

Empowering deaf individuals to reach their full potential is at the heart of Nzeve's mission. Through its innovative programs and initiatives, Nzeve is creating a platform for deaf individuals to excel in their careers, become role models in their communities, and advocate for their rights. By providing targeted support and resources, Nzeve is bridging the gap between opportunity and ability, enabling deaf individuals to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Recently, Nzeve conducted a capacity-building training for 15 Deaf Mentors on Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR). This training equipped the deaf mentors with the knowledge and skills to effectively share SRHR information with deaf children, parents and caregivers through various channels, including home visits, school engagements, Deaf Club sessions, and community outreaches. The training built on previous sessions, further enhancing the mentors' ability to communicate complex information in a clear and accessible manner.

The mentorship training has had a profound impact on the deaf individuals, empowering them with professional skills and confidence. One participant expressed their gratitude, saying, "With the continued support I'm receiving from Nzeve, I feel like each day I'm gaining a professional skill." This sentiment is echoed by many, who are now better equipped to support their peers and families, promoting a culture of inclusivity and empowerment within the deaf community.

Nzeve's initiative is not only promoting inclusive employment but also raising role models within the deaf communities. By showcasing the potential of deaf individuals as professionals and leaders, Nzeve is challenging societal stereotypes and ensuring a more inclusive environment. As Nzeve continues to support and mentor deaf individuals, it is only possible because of our partners.
