Supporting Iraqi Children with Cancer

By Qassim H Alowaid | President

Supporting Iraqi Children with Cancer
Quarterly Update: September – November 2025

Our Mission This Quarter

This quarter, Iraq Children’s Hope continued the Healing Hearts initiative, providing holistic support to children bravely fighting cancer in Iraq. Our approach combines medical care, emotional support, nutrition, and education to empower both the children and their families.

1. Medical Support

Objective: Ensure timely treatment and improve recovery outcomes.

  • Blood Tests: Coordinated essential lab work for 11 children.
  • Transportation: Assisted 7 families with travel to chemotherapy and hospital appointments.
  • Infection Prevention: Supplied specialized care kits to 8 children during low-immunity periods.

2. Nutrition for Strength

Objective: Boost children’s energy and overall health.

  • Meal Kits: Delivered 12 nutrient-rich meals designed for treatment recovery.
  • Healthy Snacks: Provided fresh fruit baskets to children during long hospital sessions.

3. Education & Emotional Well-being

Objective: Maintain learning progress and emotional resilience.

  • Storytime Smiles: Expanded the reading corner with new books and weekly volunteer-led sessions.
  • Study Kits: Supplied notebooks, pencils, and coloring tools to support schooling.
  • Art & Play: Hosted creative sessions to reduce stress and bring joy.

A Story of Hope: Hussain’s Smile

One of our brave children, Hussain, has been fighting cancer with incredible courage. This quarter, he completed his treatment and returned home, bringing immense joy to his family. Hussain had one simple wish, to have a bike to play with and enjoy his time at home. Thanks to your support, we were able to make his dream come true. Seeing Hussain ride his new bike with a big smile reminds us all why Healing Hearts exists: to bring hope, happiness, and healing to children who need it most.

Looking Ahead

Healing Hearts continues to turn hope into healing. With your support, we aim to:

  • Expand medical aid and treatment access
  • Increase educational and emotional support programs
  • Bring comfort and strength to more children across Iraq

Your generosity transforms lives, turning courage into lasting hope.
