Mentoring Digital Citizens

By Kevin Kinno | CAO

Dear Donors,

Thank you for your generous support of our digital mentorship program. Your contributions directly enabled a series of educational and interactive sessions that strengthened students’ digital skills, English learning, and critical thinking.

Highlights

  • Online safety & privacy: Students learned practical tips for protecting personal information and staying safe online.
  • Media literacy: Lessons on identifying credible news and spotting different types of fake news, followed by a Kahoot! quiz to reinforce learning.
  • English tutoring resumed: Volunteers restarted regular English lessons, offering one-on-one and small-group support to help students with schoolwork and test preparation.
  • Engagement & wellbeing: Each lesson included interactive activities to build confidence, communication skills, and enjoyment of learning.
  • Volunteer contribution: A committed team of volunteers designed and delivered engaging, interactive lessons that kept students motivated and involved.
  • Reach: YouMeWe is currently affiliated with 13 institutionalized homes across Japan, expanding our capacity to serve more young people.

Impact

  • Improved digital safety awareness and practical skills for online behavior.
  • Strengthened media literacy with measurable understanding demonstrated through interactive quizzes.
  • Renewed academic support in English, improving readiness for upcoming tests and daily schoolwork.
  • Enhanced student engagement and social-emotional wellbeing through interactive games and mentoring relationships.

Next Steps

  • Continue regular English lessons and targeted test-prep support.
  • Deepen media literacy modules with follow-up assessments and resources.
  • Expand online-safety sessions with practical, scenario-based activities.
  • Leverage volunteer feedback to refine lesson plans and scale best practices across our affiliated homes.

Something powerful is coming.
March 17–20, small gifts will create big change through @globalgiving’s #LittlebyLittle campaign.

When you give up to $50, your donation will be matched 50% (while funds last) — meaning your support goes even further for supporting children’s education.

Mark your calendars and get ready to make your impact count.

Thank you again for making these activities possible. Your support not only teaches vital skills but also builds confidence and connection for the students we serve.

With gratitute,

YouMeWe Team
