1. Executive Summary
This quarter, NDF Pakistan continued its environmental sustainability efforts under the “Donate To Save Mother Earth” project. The focus was on plantation and awareness activities in Sanghar district, a region significantly impacted by climate change due to recurring droughts, deforestation, and rising temperatures. Through active community engagement, plantation drives, and collaboration with local stakeholders, NDF is contributing to climate mitigation and resilience-building at the grassroots level.
2. Key Achievements This Quarter
3000+ trees planted in rural Sanghar, including neem, moringa, and indigenous species suited to arid environments.
Five (5) community-led plantation drives held across Sanghar villages in collaboration with local schools, community leaders, and youth groups.
500+ school children and 200 women engaged in climate awareness sessions and eco-education workshops.
20 community volunteers trained in tree care, nursery development, and climate resilience techniques.
Campaign materials (posters, flyers, eco-bags) distributed to promote long-term behavioral change.
3. Focus Area: Sanghar’s Climate Vulnerability
Sanghar is among the most vulnerable regions of Sindh, facing:
High temperatures (reaching 47°C in May)
Deforestation due to fuelwood use
Irregular rainfall patterns affecting crops and water access
NDF’s interventions aim to restore green cover, promote water conservation, and foster eco-friendly practices in this underserved district.
4. Impact Highlights
Local Hero – “The Green Teacher”
Mr. Shafiq, a primary school teacher in a remote village of Sanghar, mobilized his students and planted 200 saplings around the school. He says:
“Our school was dry and dusty. Today, students sit under shade, and the children are learning to protect nature. Thanks to NDF for giving us this opportunity.”
5. Challenges Faced
Water scarcity delayed tree watering in some villages; temporary solar-powered tanks were set up in response.
Lack of climate awareness required repeated sensitization meetings with elders to ensure community buy-in.
Extreme heat in May required modification of activity timelines and field safety protocols for staff.
We are deeply thankful to all our donors through GlobalGiving. Your contributions are helping NDF combat climate change at the grassroots in one of Pakistan’s most climate-vulnerable areas. Each sapling planted today is a promise for a greener, healthier tomorrow. Together, we are saving Mother Earth—one tree at a time.
