Progress Report

Project Title: Donate To Save Mother Earth From Climate Change
Implementing Organization: National Disability & Development Forum (NDF) Pakistan
Location: Sindh, Pakistan
Project Slogan: “Green Field Defeats Climate Change Crisis”

1. Introduction

National Disability & Development Forum (NDF) Pakistan continues its commitment to environmental protection and climate resilience. Through your generous support on GlobalGiving, NDF has strengthened its efforts to reduce the impacts of climate change by promoting plantation activities, clean energy awareness, and environmental education in communities across Sindh.

This report highlights the key progress made during the reporting period.

2. Plantation Activities

Under the slogan “Green Field Defeats Climate Change Crisis,” NDF Pakistan has intensified its plantation campaign. With the support of community volunteers, youth groups, and climate activists, NDF carried out plantation drives at:

  • Public parks

  • School and college campuses

  • Community grounds

  • Rural areas vulnerable to heat waves

  • Areas affected by soil erosion and deforestation

(Common species planted include Neem, Peepal, Moringa, and local climate-resilient trees.)

Tree plantation not only reduces carbon emissions but also improves air quality, controls heat, and provides long-term ecological benefits for vulnerable communities.

3. Public Forums and Awareness Events

To increase public understanding of climate change, NDF organized several Public Forums focusing on:

  • Clean and renewable energy

  • Reducing carbon footprint

  • Waste management and recycling

  • Environmental protection laws

  • Community role in climate resilience

These forums engaged:

  • Students and teachers

  • Local government representatives

  • Youth activists

  • Members of civil society

  • Persons with disabilities and their families

Participants gained practical knowledge and were motivated to take small but meaningful steps towards environmental conservation.

4. Environmental Education Sessions

NDF Pakistan conducted environmental education sessions in schools, colleges, and community centers. Key highlights include:

  • Interactive lessons on climate change

  • Demonstrations on solar energy basics

  • Awareness on water conservation

  • Training on planting and caring for trees

  • Sessions on the harmful effects of plastic pollution

These sessions have helped build a conscious and responsible youth population capable of advocating for climate-friendly behaviors.

5. Impact Achieved

Your donations have enabled NDF Pakistan to:

  • Plant climate-resilient trees in heat-affected communities

  • Enhance public knowledge on clean energy solutions

  • Build environmental leadership among youth and persons with disabilities

  • Promote community-driven climate action

  • Encourage long-term sustainability behaviors

Overall, the project is contributing to reduced environmental degradation and improved climate resilience in Sindh.

6. Use of Funds

Donations were utilized for:

  • Purchase of tree saplings

  • Event and forum arrangements

  • Awareness materials (posters, banners, brochures)

  • Transport and logistics for plantation drives

  • Training and educational tools

Every contribution has gone directly toward climate action and public engagement.

7. Challenges

Some challenges faced include:

  • Harsh weather conditions affecting sapling survival

  • Limited awareness in remote rural communities

  • Water shortages for maintaining newly planted trees

  • Need for more community volunteers for follow-up care

Despite these issues, NDF Pakistan continues to work diligently to ensure sustainability and long-term impact.

8. Future Plans

NDF plans to:

  • Expand plantation to new districts in Sindh

  • Increase sapling survival rate through community ownership

  • Hold more public forums on clean energy

  • Strengthen partnerships with climate and environmental organizations

  • Introduce school-level “Green Clubs” for environmental leadership

9. Appreciation

NDF Pakistan expresses its heartfelt gratitude to all GlobalGiving donors. Your support is helping protect the environment, fight climate change, and build greener, healthier communities for future generations. Together, we are planting hope and restoring the earth—one tree at a time.
