Something truly special is taking root at the Live and Learn in Kenya Education Center in Nakuru — and this time, it’s not just in the classroom! Thanks to the generous donation of 12 fruit trees — mango, avocado, and orange — we’ve officially begun planting a small orchard on our school grounds.
Led by their teachers, our enthusiastic students rolled up their sleeves, dug into the soil, and carefully planted each tree with love and care. It was more than just a gardening project — it was a lesson in patience, responsibility, and hope. These trees symbolize something far greater than their branches and leaves. They represent the future.
Planting trees means investing in tomorrow’s air, shade, and ecosystem. But planting fruit trees? That’s planting tomorrow’s food. With proper care — which our children are more than ready to provide — these trees will one day bear nourishing fruit for generations of students to come.
We are deeply grateful to Ralph, the wonderful donor of the trees, for his thoughtful and meaningful contribution. And we thank all the kind-hearted and generous people who support Live and Learn in Kenya International’s mission — providing education, daily meals, and a brighter, sustainable future for children living in the slums of Nakuru.
With every tree we plant, we’re growing more than fruit. We’re growing knowledge, responsibility, and a stronger connection to the earth — and to one another.
The orchard may be small now, but the dreams it represents are mighty. And one day, not too far from now, the sweet reward of juicy mangoes, creamy avocados, and sun-kissed oranges will remind us all that great things truly do grow from small beginnings.
